Antique Small Hand-Worked Strawberry Emery A small antique strawberry emery, closely hand worked in deep red thread with pale stitched seeds and long green thread leaves. The upper section is finished with a twisted green thread loop, giving the miniature fruit a distinctive and appealing shape. At just 4 cm high, this is a particularly diminutive example with considerable character. When gently squeezed, the filling gives a granular crunch consistent with an emery filling. These small abrasive cushions were traditionally used to clean and sharpen sewing needles. A delightful addition to a collection of miniature sewing accessories, antique emeries, pincushions or textile folk art. ConditionVery good antique condition, with little noticeable wear, fading or loss. The red and green thread colours remain strong, and the pale stitched seeds are well preserved. A small loose piece of cotton is caught beneath the leaf work and could possibly be removed carefully. The strawberry remains firm and intact and gives a granular crunch when gently squeezed, consistent with an emery filling. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description. DimensionsH: 4 cm x W: 2.5 cm EraLate 19th to early 20th century
