Antique Welsh Cawl Spoon Treen Wooden LadleA beautiful antique Welsh cawl spoon, hand carved from wood with a deep rounded bowl, long slender handle and shaped hooked end. Cawl spoons were traditional Welsh treen utensils, used for eating cawl, a broth or stew, as well as other farmhouse and kitchen uses. This example has a lovely rich dark patina, with warm brown tones showing through around the bowl and handle. The deep bowl, long handle and simple vernacular form give it strong decorative appeal, making it ideal for a country kitchen, Welsh treen collection, farmhouse pantry, spoon rack display or period interior. ConditionGood antique condition with age-related wear, patina, rubbing, darker staining and surface marks throughout. There are signs of use inside and around the bowl, light scratches, small knocks and darker oxidised areas to the wood. No obvious major breaks visible from the photographs.
