They feature strategically placed steel pins that offer two mounting options for shower door hinges. For enhanced safety, the two steel pins should be left in place for "mouse-ears" type cut-outs, allowing the Cologne Hinge to be used with its own CRL "mouse-ears" cut-out. Alternatively, for greater adjustability, the two pins can be removed, enabling the Cologne Hinge to fit its own CRL rectangular-shaped, square-cornered cut-out, and in some cases, competitive rectangular, square-cornered cut-outs.
